Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement:

Safe Monroe is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion where all staff, clients, board members, and volunteers feel safe and empowered to stand up to oppression of all kinds.

We embrace and encourage differences in age, color, ability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make us unique. We strive to be as free from prejudice and oppression as possible, celebrate diversity, and promote an environment where equity and mutual respect are vital.

We recognize the roles that societal power structures play in creating barriers for diverse populations, which may impact the way that they experience and process trauma.

We engage in education programs, participate in trainings, and have formed a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee to assess and address our diversity, equity, and inclusion needs and goals. We recognize we are always still learning and growing, and welcome collaboration from clients, community members, and staff on this endeavor.
